Disney World here he comes...
Several people sent me emails wanting to know more about the Disney internship my son is embarking on. So, here is what I know. don't blink there isn't much I know on this topic <grin>.
Disney provides working internships to college students. The one he will be going on is 4.5 months. If memory serves correctly he will need to arrive in Florida before noon on the 20th of August and be leaving Florida on January 9th 2009. Yes that does mean he won't be home for Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Years.
I am a little fuzzy on this but there is some sort of college training program that Disney puts on so that he can continue to work on completing college as well as qualifying to stay on Dad's insurance while he is there.
The will be paying him $7.29 an hour and set up housing where he shares lodging with 1-7 other people. The housing costs, which come out of his pay range from $79 to $95 a week, if memory serves correctly.
At the end of the internship, if Disney likes him, they may offer him a job there. During this internship he will be working in one of the food service areas. We don't know if is a station where you walk up and order your burger, fries and coke, or if it will be one of the cafeteria kind of restaurants where you put your food on a tray and then sit down inside to eat.
He isn't taking his car during the internship but if Disney asks him to stay, I can see a cross country road trip in my future! Of course I would have my camera so it wouldn't be that bad.
My wife is already thinking of a cross country trip to spend a holiday with him in Florida. If we go, I will have my camera then too.
That about does it for this entry.
Until next time, act justly, love mercy and walk humbly with your God.
Paul
